We became interested in Lawrence in 1989 after seeing the restored Lean film. Sometime in 1990 we were referred to Denis and we have had an ambling and pleasant association since. One of the best & most helpful things about this was that, thanks to Denis, we knew, as our interest was developing, that we were joining a great community of like-minded others. We sometimes meet people who are glad to meet us because they'd always felt like "the only ones interested in Lawrence." We never felt this isolation. When we met Denis, TE Notes was just a few issues old. He sent us the already-issued numbers and we've gotten all those published thereafter. Every issue provoked thought & discussion. Between the booklists and the TE Notes, and the TE Lawrence Society which we joined because Denis always had the info in TE Notes, we felt a bit aware of TE goings-on. And then there are the books, books, books. If there's a new book on TE around, Denis will sniff it out & let everyone know. We rely on him for this. And his informative booklists make us salivate. This a long overdue thanks for all the hard work and humour Denis has provided me these past several years. If you want a book found, ask Denis, and do not bother to go anywhere else. I do not know how he does it, or what resouces he uses, but whenever I am looking for a book (or series of books), Denis comes up trumps. For example, I have been searching for over six years for a copy of David Thomas's "A Companion To The Royal Navy." I have been dealing with Denis for 2 years and he has located for me TWO HUNDRED AND SEVENTEEN out-of-print titles and going strong. My main interest is the Bataan/Corregidor/Singapore campaigns. Denis locates these books and e-mails all the information to me as soon as he gets it. He is a wealth of information and he goes the extra yard for you in your search requests. All of the books that I have purchased from Denis are in very good to excellent condition. Denis will let you know in advance the condition of the book like most book dealers do, but he will be right on the mark as for the condition. His packaging is excellent and his prices are very fair and reasonable. I was informed about Denis by Graham Palmer of World War II Books in England. Graham told me it would be less expensive if I dealt with Denis in my search for American published titles as Denis is in Pennsylvania. My association with Denis dates only from June of this year {1998} when I started exploring the net for books about T.E. Lawrence.
